Pumps, pumps, pumps...

As if I don't have enough on my plate right now, between work and writing my thesis, I thought I'd get started pumping too!

We're really hoping to get pregnant early next year, so I figured I better get used to the pump before I have the added stresses of pregnancy!

So, I have a question for you many, many pumpers out there...

Which should I get?

I know I have a lot of research to do myself. However, I assume there are differences between the Minimed and Cosmo, because people seem pretty devoted to their choices... so I figured user feedback would be a good place to start!

Thanks guys! :)

Ah - if it were only that easy!

Bottom line, in my humble opinion, is that any pump you choose will do the basics (deliver basal rates and boluses) just fine.

It's a matter of the "bells & whistles" that suit you best.

It may even come down to simpler things, like size & color choices available!

Another thing that may sway your decision would be the customer service of each pump company. Hard to judge without being a customer though...

There is also the Animas pump that might be worth considering.

Good luck - and let us know if there are any features that you don't quite "get", and we'll tell you how they work in the "real world".

I think the most important thing for you to do is to call all the companies. Deltec, Minimed, and Animas ask them to send you out information on their pumps. I won't mention any names but one company seems to have a rep for putting down the other companies. I went with Deltec for a few reasons. First of all the ability to use ANY set on the market. Second, I needed a 300 unit reservoir. My guess is with a pregnancy you will probably be grate ful you got a pump with a larger reservoir. Third, Deltec will send you a pump by courier if you pump happens to break on a weekend or Holiday. I know this cause they did it for me a month ago. NONE of the other companies do that. I also love the cozmonitor another selling point for the cozmo. Okay well I am gonna go put on my flame suit now.

I only know what I have and I basically went with what my Endo perscribes. I agree with Scott though. Check them all out and see what suits you. I do like some of the bells and whistes Master P has but I know that other pumps do stuff that My pump wishes he could do!
One thing is for sure, Get a PuMP! It has changed my life in only a matter of months!

    Good Luck

My most recent experience is on that I think will give a plus on the minimed side.

To try and make a long story short, I was on a business trip flying to Bmore to Memphis and on our approach to our layover in Atlanta I hear beeping, not realizing it was ME I kept moving along. Finally in Atlanta after still hearing the noise I realized that it was me, my pump, making the noise.

I started to freak out a little considering I was with co-workers, had a broken pump, haven't even started the damn meeting yet. I called mini-med, the rep was calm, gave me good advice. When I called back later in the day a new rep asked me questions and decided that I did need a new pump. The whole process was effortless on my end. I got the new pump the next day by 10:30AM. The customer service was excellent which is something that I look at for everything.

Yea, it sucks that my pump shutdown on me, but I can only imagine this happens with all pumps, but to have someone on the other end of a phone call that realizes that you, the caller, is already dealing with so much has made my experience with Minimed great.

Sorry for the blabbing, but i'm big on customer service.
